K-ON!! merupakan kesinambungan daripada K-ON! yang mengisahkan Yui Hirasawa, Ritsu Tainaka, Mio Akiyama dan Tsumugi Kotobuki sebagai pelajar tahun akhir sekolah tinggi serta ahli Kelab Muzik Ringan bersama-sama dengan ahli junior mereka, Azusa Nakano. Mereka menghabiskan masa dengan menikmati teh dan manisan serta berlatih muzik sesudah waktu sekolah. Di tengah-tengah kesibukan berlatih, persiapan bagi persembahan suai kenal pelajar baru, mencari ahli baru dan tanggungjawab sebagai pelajar, mereka masih mempunyai masa untuk "Houkago Tea Time".

K-ON! mengisahkan seorang gadis, Hirasawa Yui yang memasuki Sekolah Tinggi Sakuragaoka dan entah bagaimana dia tertarik dengan sebuah poster yang mengiklankan Kelab Muzik Ringan. Oleh sebab keterujaannya, Yui telah mendaftarkan diri meskipun dia tidak pandai bermain alat muzik dan disambut oleh Ritsu Tainaka, Mio Akiyama dan Tsumugi Kotobuki. Biarpun Yui hampir menarik diri kerana kekurangan yang ada pada dirinya, mereka tetap berusaha bagi meyakinkan Yui untuk mengelakkan pembubaran kelab. Dengan temasya sekolah yang semakin hampir serta persediaan mereka bagi kemunculan sulung Kelab Muzik Ringan, adakah Yui berjaya melatih dirinya sebagai pemain gitar yang baik?
