The movie will have its world premiere at Anime Expo on July 7 and will then release theatrically in Japan on July 29.
A new trailer was released for the upcoming Tokyo Ghoul live-action movie. The English-subtitled preview also features the song “BANKA” by illion, which will serve as the movie’s theme song.
Tokyo Ghoul is a dark fantasy manga created by Sui Ishida. The series follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who works up the courage to ask a beautiful woman out on a date. On their date, she reveals that she is a ghoul, which is a creature in human form that feeds on human flesh. Kaneki survives the deadly attack through a transplant of the ghoul’s organs, which slowly causes him to turn into a half breed.
The ghouls who run the coffee shop “Anteiku” offer to take Kaneki in and teach him about ghoul society. While Kaneki struggles with his new reality, he also tries to keep his new identity a secret from his human friends.
